Role: Production Support Engineer / Python Developer

Salary: $100,000-$160,000 CAD + Bonus

Overview
My client are seeking an Engineer with a broad skillset to support a range of technology within their stack. The position has a heavy focus on the support of Front Office Trading Applications, and the ideal candidate will stem from a similar environment. This role is approximately 80% Front Office Production Support and around 20% Python development, making it perfect for an engineer who enjoys the intersection of live operations and software creation.
The Role
You will work closely with the development team and help to implement changes within the Change workflow, managing the delivery of services to production and research environments. Key to this role is providing post-release and implementation services, supporting brokers and traders, and assisting with complex "go-live" scenarios.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing high-touch support for Front Office Trading Applications in a fast-paced environment.
• Dedicating 20% of your time to Python development to improve tools, automation, and system functionality.
• Managing the delivery of services to both production and research environments.
• Collaborating with developers to implement and manage changes within the Change workflow.
• Offering direct support to brokers and traders, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid issue resolution.
• Assisting with critical go-live scenarios and technical projects.
Requirements
• Proven experience working within high-performance Linux environments.
• Strong Python skills, capable of both scripting and contributing to development tasks.
• Strong understanding of Application Architecture and relational databases (SQL, Postgres, etc.).
• Ability to troubleshoot complex SQL queries and database performance issues.
• Knowledge of the FIX protocol is highly desirable.
• Experience in a Front Office or similar financial trading environment.
• A proactive, communicative personality suited for a high-pressure trading floor.
